I have been a full time real estate appraiser since 1984. Prior to that, I was a licensed agent of Colony Realty, a family-operated real estate development and sales organization in Glastonbury, CT. In 1984 I joined the Glastonbury office of Property Financial Services as an Appraiser of Residential Properties. My duties expanded to include appraisal of commercial properties and appraisal review. I was subsequently promoted to Assistant Office Manager in the spring of 1985 and I managed a staff of 10 appraisers and was responsible for overseeing the assignment of timely completion of appraisal orders covering 75% of Connecticut’s towns. In 1985 I accepted the position of Appraisal Officer with Charter Appraisal Company, Inc. of East Hartford, CT. My duties at Charter included preparation of appraisals for residential and income properties and land; evaluating existing and proposed tract developments; appraising property for foreclosure purposes; evaluating proposed and existing condominium projects, and presenting court testimony as an expert witness on real estate values within the Hartford, Tolland and Middletown jurisdictions. In 1994 I was one of three principals who founded O’Malley, O’Rourke & Bezz, Appraisal Associates, Inc. This company has expanded to a staff of 14 including 10 appraisers and a review appraiser with a background in mortgage underwriting. I have extensive experience in the valuation of complex residential properties including historic homes, direct ocean/water front and properties valued over $3 million.
